​​Coming September 2027: Ocean House

Our newest kindergarten, Ocean House, will open in September 2027 at Heidelberg Innovation Park in Heidelberg-Südstadt.

​

Ocean House will offer approximately 20 Nursery places for children aged 1–2 and 60 Kindergarten places for children aged 3–6. The freshly built house will feature a spacious private playground and a brand-new layout designed with children and families in mind.

Application Process

Please send your completed registration form directly to verwaltung@dai-kids.de.

3. Receive your confirmation

We will confirm by email that your child has been added to our waiting list.

​

4. Wait for placement

Our team will contact you as soon as a place becomes available for your child.

Allocation of places for the new kindergarten year take place in February.

The new kindergarten year itself always begins in September.

Looking for a place sooner?

If you are interested in a place during the current kindergarten year or need a short-notice admission, please indicate this on your registration form or contact us directly by phone or email.

Mid-year and short-notice admissions are not guaranteed and depend on available places and whether we can accommodate the admission organizationally.

Which Ages Do We Accept?

All of our houses accept children from 2–6 years old.

Our Arctic House in Neuenheim and Ocean House at Heidelberg Innovation Park also offer Nursery places for 1-year-olds.

​

Starting with us in Nursery means your child can continue their journey with us through Kindergarten seamlessly and automatically, should that be your desire. 

​

How Are Places Allocated?

Places are allocated according to several criteria, including:

• Siblings of children already enrolled at NewLi

• Children with an international background

• Date of application

For our Neuenheim houses, Arctic and Safari, priority is also given to children who live in Neuenheim.

Our Rainforest and Ocean Houses accept children from other parts of Heidelberg.

We also have a limited number of seats for children outside of Heidelberg. 

 

Admission Confirmation

If you registered through the City of Heidelberg's central registration system, you will receive your admission confirmation by email from the City. Please follow the steps outlined in their email.

You will then receive further information about the next steps from our team.

 

If you registered directly with NewLi, all admission and next-step information will be sent to you directly by our team.

Tuition & Reduced Fees

As part of our mission, we strive to provide fair access to our kindergartens and make NewLi accessible to as many families as possible. We offer a limited number of reduced-tuition places through a tiered tuition system based on parent or guardian income.

 

If you would like to be considered for a reduced fee, you must apply for it during the registration process by indicating this on the application form.

 

If you are selected for a reduced fee, you will need to provide proof of the gross income of both parents or guardians in the required format. Proof of income must be submitted annually.

We also accept families with the Heidelberg Pass.

Care Contract & Getting Started

After your child has been accepted, our team will provide you with the Kindergarten Care Contract, which contains all necessary details about your child's care. Your respective House Leader will then contact you to arrange an initial meeting with you and your child's future caregivers.

 

You will also receive access to your account on Famly, our digital learning platform, where you will find our Parent Handbook and a list of the documents needed for your meeting. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions and go through any practical details before your child's first day.

We also invite prospective families to visit us at a House Tour to get to know your preferred kindergarten and our team.

​

Once your place is confirmed and your contract is signed, your House Leader will provide you with all further information about getting started at NewLi.
